Nobel Laureate Jean-Pierre Sauvage Inspires IRACM Students with a Lecture on Molecular Machines

Yesterday, we had the chance to attend a lecture given by Jean-Pierre Sauvage, the 2016 Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry, as part of our studies for a master’s degree. His lecture entitled “From Inorganic Photochemistry to Molecular Machines: A Historical Perspective” was really instructive and a source of motivation.

The conference was of an exceptional level, and Mr. Sauvage congratulated the quality of the questions asked by the IRACM students.

This event further underlines IRACM’s reputation as an excellence master’s program in the fields of chemistry and materials science.

interview of Prof. O.Lafon by Bruker

Dr. Olivier Lafon, one of our IRACM teachers at the University of Lille, specializes in material science and NMR spectroscopy. He was recently interviewed by Bruker, a well-known company that produces scientific instruments. In the interview, he talks about his work and the capabilities of NMR, highlighting how it can enhance research.

Best of luck to Dr. Lafon in his future endeavors!

Collaborative Research Spotlight: Breaking Barriers in Antibiotic Resistance

We are proud to announce that the groundbreaking research of Helena Arellano, in collaboration with the University of Lille laboratories (UCCS, INRAe, IEMN), has been recently recognized by the Institute Laue Langevin (ILL). The publication, titled “Influence of Critical Micelle Concentration of Choline-Based Long Chain Fatty Acid Soaps on Their Antibacterial Activity Against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus,” highlights a significant advancement in the fight against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

The study focuses on the synthesis of LCFA-choline solutions and the quantitative testing of their effectiveness against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a major public health concern. Through the collaboration with ILL, researchers were able to refine the development process and perform detailed analyses of the antibacterial properties of these compounds.

This recognition underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing scientific knowledge and finding innovative solutions to global challenges such as antibiotic resistance.

Master Day Awards

We are proud to announce that our students, Braulio and Regardo, have earned the top two places for their presentations at the Master Day awards on June 12, 2024. Their presentations highlighted the impressive work they completed during their internships, showcasing their commitment, skill, and innovation.

We congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Interview With IRACM Director

Dr.S. Aloise is an  IRACM teacher and a specialist in photofunctional molecules, and more particularly photochromic molecules, which the general public knows through photochromic spectacle lenses, and asked some questions about his involvement in the IRACM international master and its collaboration with Anne L’Huillie #Nobel Prize in Physics in 2023!
